Genesis Chapter 40: Joseph Interprets Dreams in Prison
In Genesis chapter 40, Joseph encounters two of Pharaoh's officers, the chief butler and the chief baker, who have been imprisoned. Both men have troubling dreams that they cannot interpret. Joseph, who has been given the gift of dream interpretation by God, offers to explain their dreams. He interprets the butler's dream positively, predicting his restoration, while he warns the baker of his impending execution. Despite Joseph's accurate interpretations, the butler forgets to mention Joseph to Pharaoh after his release, leaving Joseph still imprisoned.
